The session was organised by the Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan, with Modi interacting with participants and joining them in the practice.

Modi said some of those attending the session had also participated in the first-ever World Yogasana Championship, held in Ahmedabad earlier this year.

“Uzbekistan was a proud participant in the first-ever World Yogasana Championship held in Ahmedabad earlier this year. Some of the medalists were also present today. They came back with great memories of India and the Championship,” Modi said.

“I commend the Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan for their work towards making Yoga popular,” he added.

Modi also shared several images and a video on social media showing him participating in the yoga session and interacting with the participants.

Modi is visiting Uzbekistan on August 29 and 30 at the invitation of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

He was accorded a warm welcome by President Mirziyoyev upon his arrival in Tashkent.

The Prime Minister later visited the Yangi Uzbekistan Monument, where he laid a wreath in the presence of President Mirziyoyev.

“The Yangi Uzbekistan Monument reflects the aspirations and progress of the Uzbek people. Glad to begin my visit by coming here,” Modi said.

Thanking President Mirziyoyev for the welcome, Modi said, “Landed in Tashkent to a warm welcome by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Grateful to him for the special gesture. This is my fourth visit to Uzbekistan, reflecting the depth and growing momentum of our bilateral relations.”

During his visit, Modi will hold delegation-level talks with President Mirziyoyev aimed at further strengthening the strategic partnership between India and Uzbekistan.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, the two leaders will review cooperation in key areas including trade and investment, defence, digital connectivity, energy, education and people-to-people ties, while also setting the agenda for future cooperation.

They will also exchange views on advancing their shared developmental visions of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Uzbekistan-2030.
