PM Modi speaks to Vladimir Putin, Volodymyr Zelenskyy; reiterates need for dialogue to end Russia-Ukraine conflict

New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin and congratulated him on his re-election as the President of the Russian Federation for the fifth term.

During the telephone conversation, both leaders discussed bilateral cooperation and other global issues.

"We agreed to work together to further deepen and expand the India-Russia Special & Privileged Strategic Partnership in the years ahead. @KremlinRussia," PM Modi wrote on X.

They also reviewed progress on various global issues including the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

PM Modi also reiterated India’s consistent stand in favour of dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward, as per a Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, 71, won the recent Presidential elections by securing 87.97 percent of the votes.

Prime Minister Modi also spoke to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and conveyed India’s consistent support for all efforts for peace and bringing an early end to the ongoing conflict."

Taking to X, PM Modi said "Had a good conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on strengthening the India-Ukraine partnership"

"Conveyed India’s consistent support for all efforts for peace and bringing an early end to the ongoing conflict. India will continue to provide humanitarian assistance guided by our people-centric approach" Modi wrote on X.

According to reports, both Zelenskyy and Putin have invited PM Modi to visit their countries after the Lok Sabha elections. Modi last visited Russia in 2018.
