RG Kar rape-murder: Supreme Court questions Bengal govt over delay in filing FIR
New Delhi/IBNS: The Supreme Court has questioned the West Bengal government and administration over the delay in filing an FIR in the rape and murder of 31-year-old junior doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

A three-judge Supreme Court bench has questioned the administration as to why the FIR was filed three hours after the dead body was cremated.
"Why was the FIR not filed in the first place," the top court asked the state government's advocate.
The top court has taken a suo-motu cognisance of the incident that has sent shockwaves across the country and triggered widespread nationwide anger and protests.
The trainee doctor was raped and murdered at the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, which is located in North Kolkata's Belgachia area.
One person, a civic volunteer, has been arrested in connection with the case but protesting students as well as the victim's parents suspect more people are involved in the case.
As per the Calcutta High Court order, the CBI is now investigation into the rape-murder that has brought the Mamata Banerjee government under scanner over the handling of the case and the alleged cover-up.
