TMC MLA Jiban Krishna Saha arrested by ED in SSC scam
Kolkata/IBNS: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Jiban Krishna Saha has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the School Service Commission (SSC) scam, media reports said.
Saha was arrested after ED officials questioned him for five hours.
In a huge drama that unfolded this morning, Saha threw away his phones, tried to flee as the ED raided him and his relatives in connection with the probe into the irregularities in recruitment of staff in schools.
The raids were conducted by the ED under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Saha, who was at her residence in Andi village of Murshidabad district.
As per a report by Anandabazar Patrika, Saha tried to flee through the backdoor of his house when the ED officials raided him.
Three ED officials chased him and ultimately caught the politician, whose mobile phones were recovered from the drain.
Saha, who was arrested by CBI in 2023, had even thrown his phones to a nearby pond. The phones were later recovered.
The Burwan MLA was granted bail 13 months later.
