Union Cabinet approves Digital India project with an outlay of Rs 14,903 cr

New Delhi: The Cabinet on Wednesday gave its approval for the extension of the Digital India project, allocating a budget of Rs 14,903 crore, announced Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The extended project will build upon the achievements of the previous version of the initiative. "During the cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister approved the Digital India program with a budget of Rs 14,903 crore," stated Vaishnaw.

As part of the project, 5.25 lakh IT professionals will undergo reskilling and upskilling, while 2.65 lakh individuals will receive training in the field of IT.

Additionally, the extended Digital India project will introduce nine new supercomputers as part of the National Supercomputing Mission (NCM). It is noteworthy that 18 supercomputers have already been deployed under the NCM.

This extension of the Digital India project reflects the government's commitment to further enhance digital infrastructure and technology capabilities across the country.
