UP: Meerut woman, her lover arrested while trying to pass off husband's murder as snake bite

Meerut: In a chilling attempt to conceal a murder, a woman and her lover allegedly strangled her husband in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut and tried to pass off the crime as a fatal snake bite.
According to an NDTV report, the incident took place on Saturday when Amit, a 25-year-old labourer, returned home, had dinner, and went to sleep. His wife Ravita, in collusion with her lover Amardeep, strangled him while he slept.
To make it appear as though Amit had died from a snake bite, the two placed a snake in the bed and spread word that the reptile had attacked him.
Locals rushed to the house, and the snake was eventually caught.
However, their ploy fell apart after the post-mortem report confirmed that Amit had died due to strangulation.
Following the revelation, the police arrested Ravita and Amardeep.
The woman has claimed that her husband tortured her mentally and physically and threatened to push her into prostitution, according to media reports.
This incident comes close on the heels of another gruesome murder in Meerut, where Muskaan Rastogi and her lover killed her husband Saurabh Shukla, chopped his body into pieces, and sealed the remains in a drum filled with cement.
