Uttar Pradesh: Couple die after being mowed down by dumper
Jaunpur/UNI: A couple died after being mowed down by a dumper in the Line Bazar area of Jaunpur district in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said on Wednesday.
Police sources said Vinod (45), a resident of Bardah area in Azamgarh district, along with his wife Lalita (40), had come to Jaunpur in connection with some work on Tuesday.
"While the couple was returning to Azamgarh late at night, their bike slipped due to ballast, and they fell on the road and were mowed down by the dumper," they said.
Police sources said the dumper driver was nabbed by the local residents.
"The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination. The family members of the couple have been informed about the incident," they said.
