Firozabad: Domestic help of a Sub-Inspector (SI), who was shot dead in Araon area of Firozabad district here in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested by the police for murder on Saturday, a police officer said here.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Ran Vijay Singh said on Thursday night SI Dinesh Kumar Mishran who was posted at Chandrapura police outpost, was shot dead while he was returning after investigating a dowry murder case.
"Preliminary investigation pointed towards involvement of Mishra's domestic help Dheeraj Sharma, who accompanied the SI on that day," he said.
He said evidence and report indicated that Mishra was shot from a close range, whereas Dheeraj had claimed that the SI was shot from a distance.
"When quizzed on Saturday Dheeraj admitted the crime and confessed that he shot Mishra," he said.
The SP said the accused used to live near Mishra's residence in Kalindi Vihar in Agra. "As the accused was unemployed he worked as a domestic help in Mishra's house. Dheeraj has claimed that Mishra did not pay his remuneration for the last two months even after repeated reminders," he said.
He said Dheeraj has revealed that on Thursday night he once again had an argument with Mishra over payment during which he shot him.
"To give it a shape of an accident Dheeraj himself informed the police and family members of the SI.
The police have recovered the illicit weapon used in the murder and Dheeraj has been sent to jail," he said.
