The communication, issued by the Directorate of Collegiate Education, was marked “very urgent” and instructed the Principals of government arts and science colleges to coordinate with the School Education and Higher Education departments, police and district administrations on the matter.

Officials were also asked to take steps to discourage and prevent male and female students, as well as other young people, from participating in such programmes.

The department further directed the concerned authorities to submit an action-taken report to the Directorate of Collegiate Education.

Inspired by the mainstream Cockroach Janta Party movement, the Tamil Nadu Cockroach Janta Party (TNCJP) was founded by Tamil Nadu-backed lawyer C Brahma Balasubramaniam.

The TNCJP has approached the Election Commission of India (ECI) seeking registration as a regional political party.

The members of the party claimed they want to focus on issues related to social justice, rights of workers, students and farmers in the state.
