Viral clip: Sudha Murthy thumps table appreciating Milind Deora's speech on Trump in Parliament
New Delhi/IBNS: Rajya Sabha's nominated member Sudha Murthy's thumping of the table in appreciation of Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora's speech has gone viral on social media.
In the video, Milind is seen criticising parties that suitably accept US President Donald Trump's 'ceasefire' claims but not pointing out the Republican leader's flawed statement on India-Pakistan rivalry.
"Firstly, it's curiously unfortunate that when a head of a certain country, who may not have a deep understanding of South Asian history, repeatedly makes a claim that 'India and Pakistan's conflict dates back thousands of years' when all of us know that it's from 1947, no one chooses to quote him. But when he makes a claim which suits someone's narrative, that gets quoted," said Milind.
He added, "... I studied in the US, we respect America's people, democracy and even the Presidency, but our trust in India's Armed Forces and elected leadership has to precede the words of any head of state regardless of which country they belong to... if they had listened to India's experience and knowledge regarding Pakistan, perhaps 9/11 and the 8 trillion dollars war on terror would not have happened."
Murthy, the founder-chairperson of Infosys Foundation and wife of Infosys co-founder Narayan Murthy, nodded her head sitting behind and appreciated as she listened to the Sena MP carefully.
From Monday to Wednesday, the two houses of Parliament debated Operation Sindoor, which was launched by the Indian Armed Forces on May 7 to avenge the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
Milind referred to Trump's repeated claims that he had brokered a ceasefire deal between India and Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.
However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi clarified during the debate that no global leader had asked India to stop the military conflict.
