WFI chief Brijbhushan should be arrested: Prithviraj Chavan
Mumbai/UNI: The allegations leveled by women wrestlers against the head of Wrestling Federation of India and BJP MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh are very serious, said former Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan.
Speaking to media on sideline of two-days congress review meeting, Chavan said that Brijbhushan is accused of sexual harassment and two cases have been filed in this matter after the order of the court.
One of these FIRs has been registered under the POCSO Act. Despite this, Brijbhushan is not being arrested. It is more serious that the Prime Minister is silent while the country is being defamed in the world.
Chavan demanded that Brijbhushan Singh be arrested immediately.
The women leaders of BJP should come forward and support the aggrieved players but it does not seem to be happening. BJP is scrambling to save the MP who is accused of sexually assaulting women athletes, and he is being protected.
When the new Parliament building was being inaugurated, the aggrieved athletes were pushed away from the Jantar Mantar by the police using force. Instead of taking action against the MP, the police are abusing the victims.
"It is surprising and infuriating that the Prime Minister, who tweets on trivial matters, is silent on this very serious matter," added Chavan on Friday.
