North East Students' Organisation, Jalandhar conducts its 10th general elections

The North East Students' Organisation Jalandhar (NESOJ) successfully conducted its 10th General Elections at Hotel Ashish Continental, Phagwara, marking another significant milestone in its journey of leadership, unity, and representation for North East students in Jalandhar.
The election was organized by the Nomination Committee consisting of Dr. Yendrembam Krishnakumari Devi (Chairperson), Dr. I. Yimjenjang Longkumer, and Mr. Enjula Uchoi. Representatives from all eight North Eastern States’ Unions/Organisations were present, ensuring inclusive participation and transparency in the process.
The program commenced with a lamp-lighting ceremony led by the Nomination Committee Members and the outgoing President, Ms. Archita Dutta, symbolizing the continuation of NESOJ’s guiding spirit and commitment to unity. Following this, the election proceedings were conducted in full accordance with the NESOJ Constitution.
After the successful completion of voting and verification, the following 16 executives were elected for the 2025-2026 tenure:
President: Alicia Kharbuki (Meghalaya)
Vice President: Chow Ananda Mungyak (Arunachal Pradesh)
General Secretary: Shelley Salam (Manipur)
Assistant General Secretary: Abdul Maazid (Sikkim)
Finance Secretary: Petrina Swu (Nagaland)
Assistant Finance Secretary: T. Lalremsangi (Mizoram)
Cultural Secretary: Chuchu Jomoh (Arunachal Pradesh)
Assistant Cultural Secretary: Keith R. Khapiah (Meghalaya)
Sports Secretary: C. Lalchhanhima (Mizoram)
Assistant Sports Secretary: Prayash Thapa (Sikkim)
Women’s Secretary: Aditi Kalita (Assam)
Media & Publicity Secretary: Radhika Debbarma (Tripura)
Literary Secretary: Vishal Medhi (Assam)
Assistant Literary Secretary: Hoka Ehud Shohe (Nagaland)
Information & Database Secretary: Arunkumar Leihaorungbam (Manipur)
Assistant Information & Database Secretary: Avid Debbarma (Tripura)
The oath-taking ceremony for the new executives was officiated by Mr. Nganaomi Zingkhai, a respected figure who has served as the Chairperson of the Nomination Committee in previous years, symbolizing the continuity of leadership and commitment to the organisation's values.
Alicia Kharbuki from Meghalaya was elected as the President, making history as the first person from Meghalaya and the second female president in the ten-year history of NESOJ's executive bodies. In her inaugural address, President Alicia, a seasoned executive who previously served as Vice President, delivered an address pledging to be a "bridge and a conduit," focused singularly on service, results, and strengthening every part of the organization. She called for cooperation across all state unions to ensure the new term is defined by unity, growth, and pride, reflecting the full strength and spirit of the entire Northeastern community.
The newly elected team expressed gratitude for the trust placed in them and pledged to uphold NESOJ’s mission of fostering unity, cultural pride, and mutual growth among the North Eastern student community in Jalandhar.
