RPF of NFR strengthens passenger safety with major crackdown in March seizures exceed Rs. 1.93 Cr, 37 apprehended
Guwahati: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has demonstrated heightened vigilance and operational efficiency through a series of successful actions carried out on 24th March 2026 across its jurisdiction, covering railway stations and trains at Guwahati, New Jalpaiguri, Aluabari, Kamakhya, Hojai, Agartala, Samsi and New Bongaigaon.
In a notable humanitarian effort, RPF teams of Guwahati rescued a minor boy from Train No. 15933 DN at Guwahati Railway station and safely handed him over to the Child Welfare Committee through Railway Child Line for proper care and protection.
In another significant operation, a team of CIB of Katihar led by RPF apprehended a tout at Samsi Railway Station with 14 illegal e-tickets valued at over Rs. 61,700/- dealing a strong blow to illegal ticketing activities. RPF teams also recovered contraband items including Ganja and liquor and apprehended offenders involved in illegal arms possession and a drugging case.
During the month of March 2026, up to 26thMarch, RPF of NFR carried out intensive and proactive enforcement operations across various stations and trains, achieving significant results. A total of 268.82 kg of Ganja was recovered along with cigarettes, cough syrup, heroin; 1,200 kg of poppy seeds and liquor with a combined seized value of approximately more than Rs. 1.91/- crore. In the course of these operations, 37 persons were apprehended, arrested. Additionally, Rs. 7, 60,000/- in cash was recovered in one case. Under Arms & Ammunition cases, 1 pistol, 2 magazines and 2 live cartridges were seized.
In theft related cases, 8 offenders were apprehended, leading to the recovery of 7 mobile phones and 1 trolley bag valued at Rs. 86,000/-. Action against illegal ticketing activities resulted in the arrest of 2 touts with 16 tickets worth Rs. 63,668/-. These cumulative efforts have taken the overall total recovery/revenue to approximately more than Rs. 1.93/- crore.
These cumulative actions highlight RPF of NFR’s unwavering commitment towards ensuring passenger safety, preventing unlawful activities and maintaining a secure and passenger-friendly railway environment. Continuous vigilance and proactive measures are being undertaken to further strengthen security across railway premises.
