Mumbai/IBNS: YouTuber Samay Raina’s comeback video ‘Still Alive’ has sparked fresh controversy after the stand-up comedian cracked a joke on India’s cult television superhero Shaktimaan.
Actor Mukesh Khanna, who played the iconic character in the Doordarshan serial that aired from 1997 to 2005, slammed Raina in a strongly worded social media post.
Addressing the India’s Got Latent controversy, Raina spoke about various aspects of his life, including the support he received during the turbulent phase.
The comedian also took a dig at Khanna’s superhero character—hugely popular among children in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Without naming anyone, Raina said some “irrelevant people” tried to grab the spotlight during the controversy, which escalated after podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia’s explicit remark went viral.
“Shaktimaan aagaya tha yaar. Shaktimaan se kaise ladenge? Tune bacche maare hai, tu kya moral high ground lekar baitha hai? ( Shaktimaan showed up, man. How are we supposed to fight Shaktimaan? You’ve harmed kids—what moral high ground are you even claiming?)” he said, drawing laughter from the audience.

In a lengthy post on X, Khanna launched a scathing attack on Raina, using sharp metaphors and accusing him of crossing limits.
He compared Raina to a dog’s crooked tail that cannot be straightened and described him as a “roasted creature” shaped by filth.
Khanna also shared an AI-generated image depicting Shaktimaan confronting Raina, and called for his public humiliation—suggesting he be paraded through cities, with people pelting him with eggs and tomatoes for insulting a beloved childhood icon.

The controversy stems from an episode of Raina’s show India’s Got Latent, where Allahbadia made explicit and controversial remarks to a contestant, including a viral question involving parents and sex.
The comments triggered widespread outrage, with complaints filed against Allahbadia with the Mumbai Police and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission.
Co-panelists including Apoorva Makhija and Ashish Chanchlani were seen reacting with shock and laughter during the episode.
In ‘Still Alive’, Raina addressed the fallout, admitting an error in judgment.
He said he had removed nearly 99% of the controversial content from Allahbadia’s segment before release, but retained one instance.
Explaining with a metaphor, he said it was like eliminating 99% of germs while leaving 1% behind—which ultimately “caused a pandemic.”
The remark underscored how a single clip triggered massive backlash, legal trouble, and the eventual takedown of the show.
