Aparna Sen and Anjan Dutt's Ei Raat Tomar Amaar gets its trailer launched
Kolkata/IBNS: The trailer of Bengali film veterans Aparna Sen and Anjan Dutt starrer Ei Raat Tomar Amaar was launched by the makers in presence of an elite gathering at Calcutta Rowing Club in Kolkata on Saturday.
The film is directed by actor-director-producer Parambrata Chattopadhyay.
Ei Raat Tomar Amar is a sensitive portrayal about an elderly couple's relationship through one night as the storm brews outside.
An elderly couple encounter each other over the night of their 50th anniversary outside their home at a desolate hill station.
"The audience nowadays watches different kinds of films. I hope the audience will derive something unique from this story which is based on a single night of an elderly couple," said Sen addressing the gathering at the club.
Dutt, who worked with Sen earlier, said, "As an actor, it's an important film for me. I haven't worked on this film just for the sake of it. I worked passionately for this sensitive film, which is rare these days."
Aparna Sen made her film debut as Mrinmoyee in the Samapti portion of the 1961 film Teen Kanya which was directed by Satyajit Ray while Anjan Dutt marked his film debut with Mrinal Sen's Chaalchitra in 1981.
Sen emerged as a director in 1981 with 36 Chowringhee Lane.
They featured together in films Mahaprithibi and Ek Din Achnaak but did not share screen space.
The two were pitted against each other as contesting lawyers in Srijit Mukherji's 2018 film Ek Je Chhilo Raja.
Sen directed Dutt in two acclaimed films Yugaant and Mr & Mrs Iyer.
Ei Raat Tomar Aamar is set to release on January 31.
