Heart-melting: Anupam Kher meets friend Hollywood legend Robert De Niro at Cannes 2025
Cannes/IBNS: Veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher reunited with legendary Hollywood star Robert De Niro at the 78th edition of Cannes Film Festival, which began on May 13.
In a video on Instagram, Kher shared the moment where he even got a kiss from De Niro with whom the Hindi film actor worked in 2012 Oscar-nominated film Silver Lining Playbook.
In the social media post, Kher wrote, "It was the most amazing feeling to meet my friend #RobertDeNiro, his graceful wife #Tiffany and their beautiful daughter #Jia in #Cannes!
"Their love and affection touched me deeply. Congratulated him for getting the most prestigious award Palme d’Or award at the opening of #CannesFilmFestival."
Kher is at the Cannes to attend the world premiere of his second directorial film, Tanvi The Great.
The actor told his fans that De Niro saw the poster Tanvi The Great and also met the crew members.
"Told him about the #WorldPremiere of #TanviTheGreat in Cannes! He met #Shubhangi (Tavi) and our other crew members very warmly! Showed him the first poster (to be released tomorrow) of our film! He LOVED it," said Kher.
He added, "Thank you dearest Mr. De Niro for your love, warmth, that wonderful hug, the delicious lunch and your infectious BRILLIANCE over the years! Having you as a friend is the biggest blessing I could have ever asked for!"
Tanvi The Great, an upcoming Hindi-language drama film, marks Anupam Kher's return as the director.
The film will be screened at Cannes on May 17.
It features a stellar cast, including Anupam Kher, Shubhangi Dutt, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swami, and Karan Tacker.

In a latest picture on Instagram, Kher shared some light moments with the cast members of the film.
He wrote, "The Boys of Tanvi the Great."
He also shared some pictures from the red carpet of Cannes 2025, which will conclude on May 24.
