'Immensely proud': Priyanka Chopra as she joins Oscar-nominated short film Anuja as executive producer
International actress Priyanka Chopra has joined the short film Anuja, which has been shortlisted for the 97th Academy Awards, as the executive producer of the project, media reports said.
Anuja has been shortlisted in the live-action short film category.
The film had earlier won the live-action short award in the 2024 HollyShorts Film Festival.
Priyanka, a popular Indian actress who now primarily works in Hollywood, said in a statement as quoted by Variety, "Anuja is a poignant, thought-provoking piece that makes us reflect deeply on the power of choices and how they shape the course of our lives.
"I am immensely proud to be associated with such a phenomenal and impactful project."
Set in New Delhi, Anuja is about the story of a nine-year-old girl, who works at a garment factory, is given an opportunity to join school along with her sister and that would determine their fates.
The film with an Indian connect is written and directed by Adam J. Graves.
The voting process, which began on January 8, will end on 12th of the same month.
The final list of all nominees will be unveiled on January 17.
The Oscars will be held at Dolby Theatre in Ovation Hollywood on March 2.
