India-Pakistan tension escalation: Arijit Singh cancels Abu Dhabi concert
Indian singer Arijit Singh on Thursday announced cancelling his Abu Dhabi concert on Friday amid escalating tension between India and Pakistan following Pahalgam terror attack.
He said the new date for the event will be announced soon.
In his statement issued on Instagram, Singh wrote: "Dear Fans, due to recent events, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Arijit Singh live concert in Abu Dhabi, originally scheduled for 9 May 2025, at the Etihad Arena, Yas Island. We deeply appreciate your patience, support, and understanding during this time. We are working closely with the venue and the new date will be announced soon."
He said all purchased tickets for the May 9 event will remain valid for the rescheduled event.
"Or you may opt for a full refund within 7 days, starting 12 May 2025 (Monday)," he said.
Pahalgam Attack and Operation Sindoor
India was left shocked after armed gunmen killed 26 people, mostly non-Muslim tourists, in Pahalgam town of Jammu and Kashmir on April 22. The incident had triggered widespread condemnation.
The incident further escalated tension between nuclear-armed neighbours India and Pakistan, two nations that have engaged in wars in the past.
Intensifying the conflict further, the Indian Armed Forces carried out Operation Sindoor on Wednesday, targeting terrorist camps located in Pakistan and PoK, in retaliation for the deadly attacks on tourists two weeks ago in Jammu and Kashmir.
