Karan Johar's Dharma Productions stops pre-release screenings of all upcoming films
Mumbai/IBNS: Filmmaker Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has announced the decision to stop pre-release screenings of all of its upcoming films.
The production house has decided to hold a screening for the press in the first half of the release day of all films, keeping in mind the "timely reviews" made by the journalists.
"This decision has been difficult to make, however, we believe it's a necessary step in ensuring that every viewer, including our friends in the media, witness our stories as they were meant to be experienced. We believe it will help in maintaining the excitement of the cinematic experience for all," a press statement issued by Dharma Productions reads.
"Having said that, we understand the importance of timely reviews and the role they play in the success of our films. Therefore, we are pleased to announce that we will be hosting press screenings in the first half of the release day for each of our movies," the statement adds.
Dharma Productions in collaboration with leading Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt's Eternal Sunshine is producing Jigra, the Vasan Bala directorial film due to be released on October 11.
The film, which is a story of sibling love, features Alia and one-film-old Vedang Raina as the protagonists.
Apart from Jigra, Dhadak 2 is another film which is in the kitty of Karan Johar's production house.
