Kolkata/IBNS: A special screening of multiple award-winning documentary 'The Victims of Sundarbans', directed by Dilip Ghosh, was hosted by Orion Entertainment here recently.

Written by Dr Olivia Dunlop, the documentary captures the harrowing lives of the families of Sundarbans, who face constant danger from fatal tiger attacks as the human-wildlife conflict escalates.

Ghosh, known for his 2013 Bollywood action movie Commando, said, “The film is born out of the deep need to tell the untold stories of tiger victim families of Sundarbans who have lost their livelihood and are living in the shadows of danger every day."

"It’s not just about loss—it’s about withstanding the pressures of life with a huge amount of resilience from the people of Sundarbans."

It closes with a hopeful message—providing "basic education to the children as a ray of hope from their disastrous conditions," added Ghosh.

“This film is more than a documentary—it’s a voice for the voiceless,” said Dr. Purnendu Roy, producer and voice-over specialist.

“These families live on the edge of the forest and the sea, trapped in fear. This project was about telling their story.”

The makers said the film has won over 135  awards, including the Brooklyn International Short Awards, Cannes Independent Shorts, Tokyo International Cinema Awards, and Rome International Short Festival, among others.

The event also marked the launch of the music video 'Ma ki Dua – Tere Kadmon Mein Jannat Hai' and the trailer of their upcoming short film 'Talk, The Void'.

The music video 'Ma ki Dua' pays homage to the 26 civilians who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack and honours the victims and martyrs  during India’s military action Operation Sindoor.

The trailer of the upcoming short film 'Talk, The Void', written and directed by Aasif Iqbal and produced by Dr Purnendu Roy, Dr Olivia Dunlop, and Simon Dunlop, was also launched.

The film explores the themes of mental health, emotional isolation, and the importance of communication.

“Mental health remains stigmatised. With 'Talk, The Void', we aim to break that silence and inspire people to open up,” said director Aasif Iqbal.

“This was more than just an event—it was a celebration of courageous storytelling and collaborative creativity,” said producer Simon Dunlop.
