'Possibly the biggest blockbuster': Alia Bhatt on Pathaan's success
Mumbai/IBNS: Actor Alia Bhatt, who attended an event in Mumbai with Varun Dhawan on Tuesday, was all praise for Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan.
Reacting to the box office success of the film, also starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in the lead, Alia called Pathaan "possibly the biggest blockbuster of Indian cinema."
The Gangubai Kathiawadi actress said, "We feel very, very happy as an industry that a film like Pathaan is not just a blockbuster, possibly the biggest blockbuster of Indian cinema. I think everybody should definitely clap for that once. We feel grateful for moments like these and pray that ye hota rahe (this should happen more often)."
Varun Dhawan agreed and added, "Not just grateful, it is also inspirational for all of us."
On being asked about her reaction that Pathaan broke Brahmastra's BO record, Alia said, "Every film should break every film's record. I am very happy with that."
Alia Bhatt's last release Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, alongside her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, was well-received by the audience and critics. In just 25 days, the Hindi version of the movie earned Rs. 425 crore at the box office worldwide.
Meanwhile, SRK's ‘Pathaan’ directed by Siddharth Anand, is on a historic run at the domestic and overseas box office as it collected Rs. 634 crores gross worldwide in just seven days.
On its seventh day, the film registered an insane Rs 23 crore net in India (Hindi – 22 crores, all dubbed versions- Rs one crore), taking the India gross to Rs 28 crores. The overseas gross on day seven is at Rs 15 crore.
In seven days, ‘Pathaan’ has recorded 29.27 million dollar (Rs 238.5 crore) in the overseas territories alone, while net collection in India stands at Rs 330.25 (Hindi - 318.50 crores, Dubbed - 11.75 crores).
