Saif received 5 stabbing injuries, was brought to hospital by his friend: Medical report
Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed in five places including his back, wrist, neck, shoulder, and elbow, and was taken to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai in an autorickshaw by his friend Afsar Zaidi, the actor's medical report, accessed by the media, has revealed.
"The injuries range from 0.5 cm to 15 cm in size. On the night of the attack, Saif's friend Afsar Zaidi took him to Lilavati Hospital at 4:11 AM and completed the formalities," said the report.
The statement ends the speculation regarding who accompanied the actor to the hospital on the night of the attack last week.
Saif was stabbed multiple times after he tried to protect his son Jeh from the attacker during a burglary attempt at his home.
The actor, who survived multiple stabs, received a wound close to the spinal cord. Doctors had to perform surgery on him to remove the knife which was 2.5 inches deep into the wound.
The attack on the house of a top-level celebrity has left the Mumbai Police red-faced.
Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde said the accused won't be spared.
"It is our responsibility to keep Maharashtra safe. As per the decision taken by CM, action is being taken. We will take strict action against illegal Bangladeshis," Shinde said as quoted by News 18.
However, Maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane has stirred controversy by doubting the attack on Saif.
Rane said as quoted by Hindustan Times, "I saw when he came out of the hospital, I doubted whether he had been stabbed or he was acting. He was dancing while walking. Whenever any Khan like Shahrukh Khan or Saif Ali Khan gets hurt, everyone starts talking about it."
"Look at what Bangladeshis are doing in Mumbai. They entered Saif Ali Khan's house. Earlier they used to stand at the crossings of the roads, now they have started entering houses. Maybe he came to take him [Saif] away. It is good, garbage should be taken away.
More than 30 teams were mobilised to track down and apprehend the attacker.
As per reports, arrested attacker Mohammad Shariful Islam revealed that he wanted to steal money from someone rich and travel to his own country to treat his ailing mother.
The attacker had booked a train ticket from Mumbai to Howrah Station in Kolkata from where he had planned to travel to Bangladesh.
Saif's wife, Bollywood superstar Kareena Kapoor Khan, who was present during the attack, recorded her statement with the Mumbai Police.
She recounted the horrifying incident, stating, "The attacker was aggressive. I saw him stab Saif repeatedly. Our priority was to get Saif to the hospital."
She added that the intruder fled without stealing any valuables.
Kareena revealed that after ensuring her husband was hospitalised, she sought refuge at her sister Karisma Kapoor's home, feeling "terrified" after the ordeal.
