Tax-Free, Rs. 784 cr and counting: Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ gets big Ladakh boost
Ranveer Singh’s December release Dhurandhar has been declared tax-free in Ladakh, further boosting the film’s remarkable box-office run.
The announcement was made through an official social media post by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.
“Lt Governor Shri @KavinderGupta declares Bollywood film Dhurandhar tax-free in UT #Ladakh,” the post read.
The Lieutenant Governor noted that the film was shot extensively in the region and showcases Ladakh’s striking cinematic landscapes, signalling strong support for filmmakers and reinforcing the Union Territory’s efforts to emerge as a preferred filming destination.
Dhurandhar continues to perform strongly in theatres across India. The film collected ₹17.60 crore on January 1 alone, according to industry estimates.
Jio Studios said the film’s total box-office collection has reached ₹784.50 crore.
Released on December 5, Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role, alongside Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi.
The film is currently the highest-grossing Indian movie of 2025.
