Tragic loss: Dan McGrath, beloved ‘Simpsons’ writer, dies following stroke
Dan McGrath, an Emmy-winning writer and producer for “The Simpsons,” died after suffering a stroke, media reports said.
McGrath died Friday at NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn after suffering a stroke, his sister, Gail Garabadian, told The Hollywood Reporter.
He was 61.
Confirming his death, his sister Gail McGrath Garabadian wrote on Facebook: "We lost my incredible brother Danny yesterday. He was a special man, one of a kind. An incredible son, brother, uncle and friend. Our hearts are broken."
McGrath has writing credits for 50 episodes of “The Simpsons” from 1992 to 1994 and produced 24 episodes from 1996 to 1998, according to Variety.
He was awarded Emmy for hsi work on the ionic series.
Brooklyn-born, McGrath was a graduate from Harvard University, where he was the vice president of the Harvard Lampoon.
