‘Where were you when Iranians were dying?’: Mandana Karimi slams Boman Irani over Trump satire
Mumbai/IBNS: Iran-born actor Mandana Karimi has lashed out at veteran actor Boman Irani over a satirical video mocking US President Donald Trump’s reported peace talk offer to Iran.
In the video, Irani used humour and referenced the ongoing LPG crisis, invoking his Parsi lineage while taking a dig at Trump’s outreach to Tehran amid escalating tensions following US-Israel strikes.
"So, as you may know, it's going viral that Mr. Donald Trump wants to speak to the Iranis. And three people have been beckoned. Talks are happening with Smritiji, Aruna Iraniji, and me, Boman Irani. So, I am ready. I am ready to do anything for peace," he joked.
"I have only one problem: I won't go to Washington. I think it would be best if Trump sahab and his delegation come to Dadar Parsi Colony. We'll feed them dhansak, custard, and other food. But if they bring along a big gas cylinder, I think it'll make life very smooth for all of us," he added.
The video drew reactions from several film personalities, including Farhan Akhtar, Tabu and Soni Razdan, who responded with laughing emoticons.
However, Karimi criticised Irani for what she described as “selective outrage”.
In a strongly worded post, she questioned the timing of his remarks, pointing to years of unrest in Iran.
"Boman Irani sir… suddenly you have a lot to say about Iran.Interesting timing. For years, Iranians have been getting arrested, executed, silenced. Thousands killed. Families torn apart. And people like me we’ve lived it. We’ve spoken about it," she wrote.
"But now… there’s a video. Now there’s concern. Now there’s humor about gas, about Trump, about 'come to my house.' Sir, with all respect you and the Parsi community come from Iran. You carry that history. That fire. So where was this voice when Iranians were dying? And now suddenly because it affects gas, politics, global talks there’s commentary?I mean… slow clap Really. From silence to satire — that was fast. Anyway… just an observation."

Trump pushes diplomacy amid tensions
Trump is also reportedly pursuing renewed diplomatic engagement with Iran to ease regional tensions.
In a significant move, he ordered a temporary halt to planned strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure, directing the Department of Defense to postpone military action for five days and describing ongoing talks as “constructive”.
He indicated that the pause would depend on progress in negotiations, signalling a cautious shift towards diplomacy.
However, Iran remains sceptical and has reportedly resumed attacks on Israel and parts of the Gulf region, including an assault that triggered a fire at Kuwait International Airport.
Meanwhile, Trump said US officials are in contact with Iran for negotiations, though he did not provide further details.
