Speaking to Hindustan Times, the director described the engagement as a deeply emotional moment.
"It is the greatest happiness for me," Imtiaz said.
He also revealed that Krish had spoken to him before proposing to Ida.
Wedding plans can wait
When asked about the couple's wedding plans, Imtiaz said he wanted them to savour the moment without outside expectations.
"I would rather not step in and let them enjoy their moment," he said.
Ida shares dreamy proposal video
Ida announced the engagement on social media by sharing a video from the proposal in Norway.
The clip opens with her showing off her diamond engagement ring before panning the camera towards Krish. She captioned the post, "01/07/26 11 pm Ytresand."
In another post, Ida shared photographs from the proposal, including a heartwarming image of Krish down on one knee as he asked her to marry him.

Meanwhile, Imtiaz Ali is receiving praise for his latest film, Main Vaapas Aaunga, a period drama starring Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari, and Vedang Raina.
Set against the backdrop of the Partition, the film follows 95-year-old Ishar Singh Grewal (played by Naseeruddin Shah), whose attempt to travel to Sargodha in present-day Pakistan triggers a journey through memories of his past after he suffers a stroke.
His grandson, Nirvair (Diljit Dosanjh), returns from England to unravel long-buried family secrets, forming the emotional core of the story.
