Melbourne Renegades vs Perth Scorchers to Open BBL Season in Chennai
The opening match of the next BBL season will see Melbourne Renegades take on Perth Scorchers in Chennai on December 12.
The move marks the entry of the first foreign franchise cricket league to be hosted in India.
Highlighting the significance of the development, Prime Minister Modi said that hosting international sporting leagues in India ensures wider reach and greater viewership.

Addressing the gathering at the MCG, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the role of sports in strengthening ties between nations and bringing communities together.
He said the roadmap agreed upon by India and Australia would help both countries diversify their sporting partnership and create new opportunities for cooperation.
"The two countries would have ample opportunities to learn from each other and work together in the upcoming years," PM Modi said.

Focus on Major Sporting Events
PM Modi congratulated Australia on winning the Women's Cricket World Cup and said India and Australia were entering a significant decade in international sports.
He pointed out that India will host the Commonwealth Games in 2030, while Australia will host the Brisbane Olympics in 2032.
According to PM Modi, these major events present opportunities for deeper cooperation between the two countries in sports, infrastructure and related industries.
