Heartbreak for Rinku Singh! Father passes away amid T20 World Cup; condolences pour in
Noida/IBNS: Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is mourning the loss of his father, Khanchand Singh, who passed away on Friday after a battle with advanced-stage liver cancer, media reports said.
Khanchand Singh had been on ventilator support at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida in recent days.
Amid the ongoing T20 World Cup, Rinku had briefly returned home after his father’s health deteriorated but rejoined the national team ahead of India’s crucial match against Zimbabwe on Thursday.
Though Rinku did not feature in the playing XI, he was present on the sidelines to support his team, which secured a convincing victory.
Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh expressed his condolences on X, saying: "Pained to learn about the demise of Shri Khanchand Singh Ji, father of Rinku Singh. This must be an especially difficult time for Rinku and his family, even as he remains committed to his responsibilities during the T20 World Cup.
"My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with him and his loved ones. May Waheguru grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength and courage to the bereaved family."
