Romario Shepherd is first West Indies player to claim T20 World Cup hat-trick: Know who the others are
Kolkata/IBNS: Romario Shepherd created history at the Eden Gardens on Saturday, becoming the first West Indies bowler to claim a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup during his side’s clash against Scotland.
Shepherd, the ninth bowler overall to achieve the feat in T20 World Cup history, finished with a sensational five-wicket haul that included four wickets in a single over.
The right-arm pacer removed Matthew Cross, Michael Leask and Oliver Davidson off successive deliveries in the 17th over before completing his fifer by dismissing Safyaan Sharif later in the same over.
His hat-trick marked the 10th in T20 World Cup history, achieved by nine different bowlers.
Shepherd’s devastating spell, combined with Shimron Hetmyer’s breezy 64, powered West Indies to a convincing 35-run victory over Scotland in the second match of the ongoing T20 World Cup.
