Centurion/IBNS: Young batter Tilan Varma's sensational hundred helped India to survive the late firing by Marco Jansen and defeat South Africa by 11 runs in a high-scoring match in Centurion on Wednesday.
Jansen, who was dismissed leg before wicket by Arshdeep Singh in the final over, slammed 54 from 17 balls, supported by four boundaries and five sixes in a bid to achieve the target of 220.
After Jansen was sent back to the dugout, South Africa ended up managing 208/7 in 20 overs, falling short of the target by 11 runs.
Arshdeep, who led the pace attack, picked three wickets for 37 runs in four overs.
Varun Chakaravarthy picked two wickets for 54 runs in four overs, Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya picked one each.
Tilak hit eight fours and seven sixes and remained unconquered at 107 from 56 balls powering India to a formidable total of 219/6 in 20 overs.
Apart from Abhishek Sharma's 50, it was all about Tilak's display of brilliance on field on a day other batters failed to dominate the South African bowlers.
India are now leading the four-match T20 series 2-1 with one game left.
