18 people from political violence victim families given govt jobs: Ratan Lal Nath
Altogether 18 persons get government jobs under the scheme ‘providing employment to members of family of persons killed in political violence prior to 2018’, said Agriculture and Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath.
Addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat on Saturday afternoon, Nath said that the state government has stood by the families of those killed in political violence across the state prior to 2018. Based on the applications received from such families, 18 people have so far been provided government jobs. A total of 33 applications have been submitted by the families of those who died in political violence seeking government employment.
He said that to assist the families of those killed in political violence, the government has formed a screening committee under the chairmanship of the Principal Secretary of the Home Department. This committee verifies applications for government aid. Minister Ratan Lal Nath, who chaired this screening committee, informed the media that the committee held a meeting on June 19 last. So far, 8 more families have submitted applications for government jobs.
The screening committee will soon send a detailed report to the state government, said Nath and added that many people had lost their lives in political violence across the state from 1978 to 2018. This initiative has been taken by the government to assist those families, as a mark of respect to the democratic values of the state, said Nath.
