A chain snatcher involved with many incidents arrested by Agartala police, recovered gold chains
A daring chain snatcher, who was involved in a number of chain snatching incidents in different parts of Agartala city, finally police on Monday managed to arrest him and has also recovered a few stolen gold chains and earrings.
SDPO(Sadar) Debaprasad Roy speaking with media persons at East Agartala police station along with OC Rana Chatterjee on Monday afternoon said that three separate complaints of snatching along with gold chains registered at East Agartala police station on February 2nd, 14th and 16th last, in which a snatcher with a speeding motorbike and a pillion rider snatched chains, ear rings, mobile phones and wallets from pedestrians, mainly women in the evening times.
Based on the complaints, OC Rana Chatterjee formed a special police team to nab the suspected snatcher and during investigation, police had collected many CCTV footages and other circumstantial evidence, said Roy.
He said that based on the evidence and versions of eye witnesses, the police investigation team managed to identify the accused youth and finally, on Monday arrested him. Police have also recovered two snatched gold chains, two ear rings and a motorbike under his possessions.
Roy added that the accused chain snatcher was identified as Biprajit Saha of Shyamali Bazar area of Agartala , was involved with multiple snatching incidents and looted valuable gold, cash and mobile phone.
Police added that on Monday arrested chain snatcher was forwarded before a local court with police remand appeals to interrogate him as police yet to identify accused pillion rider and have to recover other looted items.
