A reign of terror going on and miscreants roaming across Tripura with political patronage, Jitendra Chaudhury

Opposition CPI (M) on Tuesday strongly criticized the state government and claimed the present ‘lawless’ situation across Tripura –an undeclared emergency.
After visiting different parts of the state to meet CPI(M) workers and leaders , who were victim of political violence in past few days, CPI(M) state secretary and leader of opposition (LoP) Jitendra Chaudhury along with party senior leaders Manik Dey and Naresh Jamatia addressing a press conference at party headquarters in Agartala on Tuesday evening alleged that ruling party supporters and their affiliated goon unleashed a reign of terror in different parts of the state targeting CPI() workers and leaders.
Chaudhury said that in past few days miscreants owing their allegiance with ruling BJP has attacked party leader houses at Bishalgarh, Narsingarh and Vidyasagar area of Agartala and they had also mercilessly thrashed women members of these houses and severally injured.
Despite, FIRs after every attack on their party supporters, so far police did not take any action against miscreants responsible for attacks on their party workers, said Chaudhury and added amidst statewide corruption and appeasement by BJP leaders, miscreants have also intensified their attacks on opposition after any rally or meeting.
Highlighting day before yesterday’s attack on party leader house in Vidyasagar area under East Agartala police station, Chaudhury said that without any provocation, BJP workers attacked on their party leader, Ratan Das house and they had also thrashed women inmates of the house and severally injured.
He said that on Tuesday he along with other party leaders attended a meeting in Takharjala area under Sepahijala district for reporting on the last 24th party Congress. But, in presence of a large number of police and other security forces, a group of 15 to 16 BJP workers started stone pelting, targeting their meeting in presence of police forces.
Despite repeated requests, police forces remained calm and miscreants continued their hooliganism, said Chaudhury and added that in such a situation they have to be forced to cut the size of their meeting.
He also said that the growing crime rate across Tripura and inactiveness of police reflects total lawlessness and miscreants became scot-free to continue their criminal activities.
Chaudhury claimed that a suffocating environment prevails across the state and alleged that continuous attacks on opposition reflect that no one is safe in the reign of BJP government.
Speaking in the press meet, Manik Dey said that the rule of law has completely collapsed in Tripura during the BJP regime
He claimed that amidst continuous attacks on opposition, the police administration is merely a pawn of the government. Honest officers are being sidelined and a section of police personnel are acting like agents of the ruling party. “Due to the inactiveness of police, miscreants are roaming across the state and committing one after one serious crime, which creates a fear-psychosis across the state,” alleged Dey.
They urged the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and police administration to ensure their political rights for the greater interest of democracy.
