ADM (South) accused of assaulting doctor wife over dowry, victim demands justice
An IAS officer posted as Additional District Magistrate (ADM) at South Tripura district has been accused of physically assaulting his wife, who is a doctor, over alleged dowry demands and severely injuring his wife.
IAS officer K Pradip Krishnaraj has been accused of assaulting his wife, Dr MJ Difi, and breaking her hand after demanding dowry.
Dr Difi, originally from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala addressing a press conference in Agartala along with her father and an uncle on Sunday she narrating the incident of violence committed on her said that she married Krishnaraj in March 2022 and due her completion of study and internship of MBBS, they again re-union in December , 2022.
After December, 2022, initially, their marriage seemed peaceful, but soon after, Krishnaraj and his family began demanding dowry, despite the substantial dowry given at the time of the wedding and Dr Difi alleged that her parents had given him a huge amount of money and properties after their marriage. But, accused ADM has continued his torture upon her with fresh demands, even her parents has also given cash amount of his parents and his sister.
Unable to cope with the abuse, Dr Difi filed a case of domestic violence in Kerala after ADM’s mother locked her in a room, where she was rescued by police.
On January 8, 2025, Dr Difi, accompanied by her father, tried to visit her husband’s official residence in Belonia. During the visit, Krishnaraj allegedly verbally abused them and physically assaulted Dr Difi, resulting in a broken left hand and injuries in other parts of her body.
She was treated at Belonia Hospital and later transferred to GBP Hospital in Agartala.
She accused that after severe assault on her by her husband, she immediately informed the matter to local police, but police did not register her complaint when they heard the name of ADM of South Tripura.
Later, Dr Difi approached the state’s Women Commission and with the help of the Commission, she was able to lodge her complaint. Dr Difi also urged the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Chief Secretary and DGP to ensure justice to her and has also written letters to them demanding justice.
While her father and uncle complain that despite allegations of gross-domestic violence and several injuries, how can state police deny them for justice? They also alleged that ADM has also threatened them with dire consequences and told them he will kill their daughter and no one can do anything. “Everyone is equal in the eyes of law, then how can police not act so far,” alleged her father and urged the authorities to ensure justice for his daughter.
