Agartala city police seized Yaba tablets, worth Rs. 5 crore, 3 peddlers arrested

In a major and successful anti-drug operation, the Agartala city police on Thursday seized huge quantities of Yaba tablets, worth Rs. 5 crore and arrested three drug peddlers from Maheshkhala area of the city.
Giving details, SP(West) Kiran Kumar said that based on secret information, police teams led by SDPO(Sadar) Debaprasad Roy and OC of West Agartala police station, Paritosh Das raided at the house of Mohammad Babul Miah at Maheshkhala area, where they managed seized huge quantities of Yaba tablets, few mobile sets and two motorbikes.
During the operation, police seized 1.06 lakh yaba tablets with a market value of Rs 5 crore and police teams have also arrested two more drug peddlers , identified as Sanjay Miah (42) of Chandinimura and Sipan Hossein (26) of Bishalgarh, said Kumar and added that they have also confiscated multiple mobile phones and two motorcycles linked to the operation.
A specific case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985 has been registered and all accused drug peddlers were produced before a local court with police remand appeals to get the details of the narcotic trade network, said SP.
He said that the West Tripura district police have intensified their anti-narcotics operations in Agartala and other areas , registering 10 cases and arresting 21 individuals in the past eight days. During these operations, authorities have seized 369 kg of dry Ganja (cannabis), 2,017 bottles of banned cough syrup, 66 grams of Heroin, and 1.06 lakh Yaba tablets.
