Assam Rifles seizes codeine cough syrup worth Rs 40 Lakh in Agartala
In a continued effort to curb illegal narcotics trafficking, the Assam Rifles, in coordination with Customs officials, recovered a large consignment of banned cough syrup in Tripura.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation was launched by Assam Rifles and the Customs Department in the Taranagar area, located approximately 20 km Northeast of Agartala.
During the operation, the team seized 140 cases of codeine-based cough syrup, loaded in a truck inside the packets of Tomatos , suspected to be intended for illegal distribution. The total value of the recovered consignment is estimated at around Rs40 lakh.
The seized items have been handed over to the Customs Department in Agartala for further legal proceedings.
Assam Rifles reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and ensuring a drug-free society in the region.
