Bangladeshi smugglers attacked BSF patrol party at Sonamura border, one BSF, one smuggler injured

In a scuffle with a group of 20 to 25 Bangladeshi smugglers and miscreants, a BSF jawan sustained serious injuries and in retaliation one Bangladeshi smuggler has also suffered bullet injuries at bordering Putia village of Sonamura subdivision under Sepahijala district on Saturday evening.
BSF sources said that at about 7.30 PM of Saturday evening, BSF jawans posted at a border area of Putia village noticed a smuggling attempt by a group of 20 to 25 Bangladeshi smugglers and miscreants and they intruded into the Indian side.
When alerted by a BSF patrol party, they attacked the party, in which one BSF jawan got seriously injured.
Subsequently, again the party was attacked and miscreants tried to snatch BSF personnel's weapons and in order to protect his own life, a BSF jawan fired one round of PAG (non lethal) self defense. Resultantly one Bangladesh national got injured and he has been evacuated to hospital and is undergoing treatment.
BSF sources added that after the incident, all Bangladeshi miscreants escaped towards their country and Border Guards had deployed a large number of forces at that spot to defuse the escalating tension.
BSF added that the injured jawan was hospitalized and they have also lodged a complaint at the local police station over the attack of Bangladeshi smugglers.
