BSF hands over Bangladeshi smuggler's body to BGB

The body of the Bangladeshi smuggler, who was killed during a clash with the Border Security Force (BSF) at Putia border under Sepahijala district on Friday evening, was handed over to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Saturday.
A BSF spokesman said that the body of Mohammad Alamin, 25, was handed over to the BGB through the Kamthana village in Sepahijala District along the India-Bangladesh border.
Before handing over the body, a post-mortem of the body was done at a Tripura government hospital in Bishalgarh, he said.
BSF said that in a scuffle with a group of 20 to 25 Bangladeshi smugglers and miscreants, a BSF jawan sustained serious injuries and in retaliation one Bangladeshi smuggler has also suffered bullet injuries at bordering Putia village under Sepahijala district on Friday evening.
BSF sources said that at about 7.30 PM of Saturday evening, BSF jawans posted at a border area of Putia village noticed a smuggling attempt by a group of 20 to 25 Bangladeshi smugglers and miscreants and they intruded into the Indian side.
When alerted by a BSF patrol party, they attacked the party, in which one BSF jawan got seriously injured.
Subsequently, the BSF party was attacked and miscreants tried to snatch BSF personnel's weapons and in order to protect his own life, a BSF jawan fired one round of PAG (non lethal) self defense. Resultantly one Bangladesh national got injured and he has been evacuated to hospital and is undergoing treatment, but during treatment Bangladeshi smuggler succumbed due to his injuries.
The injured BSF jawan was also in the hospital and undergoing treatment.
BSF sources added that after the incident, all Bangladeshi miscreants escaped towards their country and Border Guards had deployed a large number of forces at that spot to defuse the escalating tension.
BSF has also lodged a complaint at the local police station over the attack of Bangladeshi smugglers.
Meanwhile, a BSF spokesman said that the border guarding force continues its relentless efforts to curb cross-border smuggling along the India-Bangladesh border.
