City police launched special operations against drug, anti-socials
Amidst mad rush for pre-puja shopping, the Agartala city police has made a massive security arrangement to maintain the law and order and strengthen its anti-narcotic drives across the city.
However, massive security arrangements are being made to ensure peaceful observance of the festivities of Durga Puja in Agartala city and other parts of the state.
The city police have already started taking preventive actions against anti-social elements, checking vulnerable places and conducting special drives for traffic enforcement in view of the coming festive season.
The City police has also strengthen its anti-drug operations across many parts of the state and on Sunday evening, a jumbo team of police and other security forces led by SP(West) Kiran Kumar K launched massive raids at MG Bazar area of the city against illegal liquor shops and destroyed dens of country made liquor shops. During the raid police also arrested 14 persons and destroyed liters of country made liquor.
He said that police will continue an anti-narcotic special drive and will also intensify in coming days specially during the celebration of festivities.
The SP said that several teams of city police are continuing their anti-drug operations and so far arrested many peddlers along with seizure of good quantities of drugs.
The state police are vowed to wipe out drugs from the state and before commencement of the festival, police will also arrest all criminal and drug peddlers.
While, police sources said that police mobile, foot patrols, anti-liquor raids, surprise checks of hotels and checking of vehicles have been intensified and actions are being taken against anti-social elements.
Police have also arrested many property offenders and strict security measures to continue to control stolen and robbery incidents across Agartala city.
