City police seized huge quantities of narcotic items, arrested a smuggler
In a major success in anti-drug operations, the Agartala city police on Tuesday seized narcotic items worth Rs. 45 lakh and arrested a drug smuggler involved with a vast network of narcotic item smuggling.
Giving details, SP(West Tripura ) Kiran Kumar said that based intelligence inputs, the police personnel of Amtali police station led by SDPO(Amtali) Sankar Chandra Das laid a trap at Nayapara village of Fultali under the same police station in the wee hours of Tuesday.
As per the information, a police team raided the house of one noted drug smuggler Debojit Bhowmik (28) at the same police station and during raids; they recovered 16,000 Yaba tablets and 6 kilograms of dry Cannabis (Ganja) from different corners of his house.
The SP said that seized narcotic have worth of Rs. 45 lakh and arrested smuggler was produced before a local court with police remand appeal with a specific case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 for further interrogation.
He said the arrested smuggler was involved with smuggling of different narcotic items and now the investigation team will grill him to get details of their drug network.
