CM emphasizes Maharaja Bir Bikram's vision as enduring inspiration for state's progress
Tripura Chief Minister, Dr Manik Saha, on Saturday said that the vision of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarma will continue to inspire everyone in terms of the state's development and said that the present BJP-led government understands the importance of honoring the contributions of the Maharajas to the state.
“The current Bharatiya Janata Party-led government understands the significance of acknowledging the Maharajas' contributions to the state. This administration has successfully restored their honor and has undertaken initiatives to raise public awareness about them. In contrast, the previous government consistently claimed that the Maharaja did not contribute to the state," the Chief Minister said.
On this day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda also remember the Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya on his birth anniversary.
Dr Saha said this while paying tribute to the architect of modern Tripura, Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya, on his birth anniversary at Maharaja Bir Bikram Chowmuhani (zero point) in Agartala on Saturday.
"Maharaja Bir Bikram will forever be remembered as the visionary behind modern Tripura. He had envisioned the beautification of Agartala city in particular. Unfortunately, his untimely demise prevented him from fully realizing that dream. To commemorate Maharaja's birthday on August 19th, various government and private programs have been organized throughout the state. Since the establishment of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in the state, Maharaja's birthday has been celebrated with grand ceremonies. The government has also declared a public holiday to observe this day," Dr Saha expressed.
He emphasized the importance of acquainting the people of the state with Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya's accomplishments. "It's crucial for everyone to understand his significant contributions to Tripura," he stated.
Dr Saha was accompanied by Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, Central Zone Chairman Ratna Dutta, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shailesh Kumar Yadav, and other officials during this event.
