Opposition CPI (M) strongly condemned attacks on their party offices in Dukli and Dharmanagar after peaceful demonstrations in support of demands for people of the state.

CPI(M) on Friday organized  statewide rallies, mass sit-ins, and deputations demanding 200 days of work and ₹340 wages under MGNREGA and TUEP, immediate payment of pending MGNREGA wages, and regular supply of essential commodities at subsidized rates through the ration system in front of different Rural Development Blocks across the state.

While, speaking with media person Friday evening, CPI (M) state secretary and leader of opposition (LoP), Jitendra Chaudhury said that during their deputation before the BDO of Dukli RD Block under West Tripura district, when a delegation of CPI(M) submitted their memorandum in support of their demands before the BDO, a group of BJP workers entered inside the official chamber of BDO and tried to create a chaotic situation, but alert BDO thwart the situation.

After the deputation, when the party supporters and leader returned back to Dukli sub divisional party office, opposite to Amtali police station, a group of youths started indiscriminate stone pelting targeting and ransacked, a car, motorbikes parked in the front side of the office and destroyed some windows, said Chaudhury and alleged miscreants owing their allegiance with ruling BJP continued their attacks in front of police forces, but police remained a silent spectators.

He alleged that in another attack at Dharmanagar, a group of BJP workers after a motorbike rally without any provocation attacked the Dharmanagar party office and ransacked many items.

Chaudhury said that during their deputation before the BDO of Rajnagar block under South Tripura district, a gathering of BJP tried to create ruckus before their deputation.

He said that on Friday CPI (M) organized mass deputations before 31 RD Blocks of the state in support of their demands with police permissions, but ruling party supporters tried to stall their deputations in many places in front of police forces.

“When , a large section of people living in rural and hilly areas of the state are suffering from food and job crisis, the ruling party instead of proving them some relief, have  engaged with hooliganism to stop the voices of common people,” said Chaudhury and alleged that BJP cannot stop them in their fight against anti-people police of the state government and party vows to strengthen their agitation in support of common people.

He also urged the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha to maintain his impartial rule as Chief Minister and should ensure protection for democratic rights of opposition parties.
