The CPIM leadership has approached the police after a fire broke out at the party's Bamutia committee office at Kalibazar in West Tripura district during the early hours of Diwali eve.

According to party sources, unidentified miscreants allegedly set fire to the office at around 2 AM. However, prompt intervention by local residents brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading and averting a major fire in the Kalibazar area.

After visiting the spot and the police station, Bamutia MLA Nayan Sarkar accused BJP-backed miscreants of being involved in the incident. He alleged that the incident was part of a series of attacks, including the assault on former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.

Sarkar demanded the identification and arrest of those involved in the arson attack and urged the police to take appropriate legal action.

He said the police had assured the party leadership that those responsible would be identified and brought to justice.
