The meeting was attended by Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) of the district, Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of various police stations, and senior officials from other security forces. Later, speaking with media persons DGP Anurag Dhankhar mentioned that although this was his first official visit to Unakoti and North Tripura as DGP, he had visited the district several times in the past.
He stated, “Maintaining law and order is not the sole responsibility of the police; it is possible only with the cooperation of the general public.” He called for support from people at all levels.
The DGP said the main objective of his visit was to advance the Chief Minister’s vision of creating a “Drug-free Tripura.” He added that detailed discussions were held in the meeting regarding future strategies to be implemented.
He further said that “Currently, over 30% of accused individuals in our state are being convicted, which is a positive sign and overall crime rate decreased at 44%, which is very significant and reflected the activeness of police administration.”
After attending a series of meetings with police officials in both Unakoti and North Tripura districts, DGP proceeded to visit the 13th TSR Battalion headquarters located in Kanchanpur subdivision to interact with the jawans.
However, concerned circles speculate that today’s sudden visit might be linked to some significant administrative developments.
