The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) observed its 47th Foundation Day by organizing a discussion meeting at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, where Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led state government over various issues.
The programme was attended by Jitendra Chaudhury, DYFI central leadership member Himaghnaraj Bhattacharyya, state leaders Nabarun Deb and Palash Bhowmik, along with other leaders, activists and supporters of the organization.
The discussion focused on the organization’s longstanding struggles, the rights of young people, employment opportunities, education and the prevailing political situation in the state. Speakers also strongly criticized the present BJP government over several issues.
They alleged that despite making repeated promises, the government had failed to fulfill the expectations of ordinary people, particularly the youth. The speakers claimed that the government was relying more on false promises and publicity than on concrete action. They also accused it of failing to effectively address unemployment, the lack of job opportunities and various problems faced by the common people.
The speakers asserted that DYFI would continue its movements and struggles across the state to safeguard the future of the youth and uphold democratic rights.
The meeting also called upon the organization’s leaders and activists to remain united and build a stronger movement in defence of the interests and rights of the younger generation. The programme has generated fresh political discussion in the state.
