Gandacherra victims of communal violence again in flood relief camps
Once, the people who were forced to take shelter in relief camps due to communal violence, now irony of fate these people again forced them to take shelter in flood relief camps after heavy rainfall in the last 48-hours in Gandacherra subdivision of Dhalai district of Tripura.
Sources said that just a month ago above 400 people were sheltered in relief camps after their houses; properties were destroyed or burnt into ashes after a communal violence. Later, the situation became normal with active administration help and these people prepared their new houses with relief aid.
But, due to incessant heavy rainfall and flood like situation in Gandacherra along with other parts of Tripura, about 437 people from 161 families are now sheltered in 11 flood relief camps.
Villagers from North and West Gandacherra, Laxmipur, Sarma, Pancharatan, Dalapati, Kalyan Singh and Ratan Nagar took shelter in flood relief camps after worsening flood situation in the subdivision.
Like other flood relief camps in Tripura, the flood affected people sheltered in 11 relief camps across Gandacherra have also been provided with relief material including food and other relief items by the sub divisional administration.
