Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday said that work on the Drug Rehabilitation Centre in Bishramganj is progressing rapidly, while the infrastructure of various district hospitals across the state is being developed and strengthened.
“Trauma care centres have been set up in almost all district hospitals. Cardiac care centres have also been started in many places. We want to strengthen the state's healthcare system in all aspects. Currently, the number of patients referred outside the state has decreased by about 80 percent,” he said.
Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha said this while launching the Emicizumab for All Persons with Severe Haemophilia A in Tripura programme at the Nursing College, AGDC and IGM Complex.
Speaking at the programme, the Chief Minister said, “Today is a truly special day for us, as I myself have been associated with the Haemophilia Society for a long time.”
“Emicizumab treatment for haemophilia patients has already been introduced in various states, including Uttar Pradesh and Kerala. The ‘Mask Campaign’ was launched after the formation of the present government in the state. This campaign was started keeping in mind that the children present here are the future of our country. The ninth phase of this campaign will begin soon,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that free vaccinations are being provided in the state to patients suffering from breast cancer, oral cancer and other cancers that are treatable.
“The present government is working to further strengthen the healthcare system. In the backward district of Dhalai, deaths due to water-borne diseases used to occur frequently. At present, there are no longer any deaths due to water-borne diseases in Dhalai district. Care is being taken to ensure that no one in remote areas is deprived of medical services. The healthcare infrastructure has improved significantly compared to the past,” he said.
Dr Saha, who also holds the Health portfolio, said that another dental building is being constructed next to the Dental College.
“Work is underway to construct a hospital for mothers and children at Agartala Government Medical College. Drug rehabilitation centres are also being set up in various districts,” he said.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the rate of patient referrals outside the state had decreased by about 80% compared to earlier.
Dr Saha also said that the Emicizumab programme was very important, and IGM Hospital had therefore been designated as the nodal hospital.
“If Emicizumab is also made available in district hospitals, it will benefit the people. The present government is prioritising the improvement of healthcare services. As part of this initiative, infrastructure is being developed in district hospitals to strengthen their service delivery. At present, trauma care centres have been established in almost all district hospitals,” he said.
Health Department Secretary Kiran Gitte, Health Department Director Dr. Debashree Debbarma and others were present on the occasion.
