Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Wednesday called upon the youth to work with dedication towards building a TB-free Tripura and a TB-free India, urging citizens to ensure that every Panchayat in the state becomes free from tuberculosis.

The Governor made the appeal while inaugurating an awareness workshop on the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan at Raj Bhavan. The programme was jointly organized by the Regional Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (RIPSAT), the Health and Family Welfare Department, and the National Health Mission (NHM).

Addressing the gathering, Governor Nallu said that the fight against tuberculosis is not merely a challenge for the medical fraternity but a collective social responsibility that requires determination, unity and public participation. He said the campaign aims to strengthen and expedite the identification of TB patients while ensuring improved treatment facilities for those affected.

Reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a TB-free India, the Governor said the Tripura Government is working actively towards achieving that goal. He stressed that making Tripura TB-free is the responsibility and duty of every citizen and called upon healthcare workers, public representatives and common people to join hands in fulfilling the mission.

During the programme, the Governor formally launched the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan App and distributed nutritious food to several TB patients. He also felicitated Nikshay Mitras with certificates in recognition of their contribution. Representatives of NEEPCO and the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura were also felicitated on the occasion.

Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine and State TB Officer Dr. Puru Debbarma delivered a presentation on the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The programme also featured experiences shared by cured TB patients. Director of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Anjan Das and NHM Mission Director Jubilu Debbarma attended the event. The welcome address was delivered by the Acting Principal of RIPSAT, Dr. Hrishiraj Chhetri.
