Heavy rain dampened high spirit of Ulta Rath
Since early hours of Wednesday, Monsoon rains in and around Agartala severely affected the normal life as major parts of the city are marooned due heavy and intermittent rains. The low-lying areas of Agartala have been partially and fully submerged with rain water and traffic movements hit road-blocks during the past few hours.
The rain also dampened the spirit of Ulta Rath as turnout of people were much less than expected in each centre like Jagannath Bari, ISKCON, Laxmi Narayan Bari etc.
Since June 10, Monsoon rain hit Tripura with moderate winds and incessant rain, but since Wednesday morning the incessant rain across Agartala severely affected the normal life and parts of the city including its low-lying suburb areas have also submerged with rain water.
Reports from other parts of the state said, the Monsoon with incessant rains also disturbed the normal life.
MET department sources said, thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places over all districts of Tripura and heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over West and Sepahijala districts of Tripura during next 24 hours.
The Southwest Monsoon has been active in the entire Northeast zone for the last few weeks, which has caused good amounts of rainfall in Tripura also on Wednesday, said India Meteorological department’s (IMD) Agartala station.
IMD added that this afternoon, the whole Tripura has received rainfall. The Monsoon rains for the last three days have further cooled the air in the state capital with maximum temperatures rising to 30.4 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature was recorded at 25.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. IMD added that continuous rain would cross the present parameter after night 8.30 PM counting on the rain gauge meter.
However, IMD added on Thursday also Tripura will receive rainfall at most of the places and heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over all districts of the state.
