In order to mark World Hepatitis Day, the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura (HFT) will organize an awareness seminar and cultural programme at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala on July 28 next.

The programme will begin at 6 PM in the evening and will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha. The event will be attended by Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, NHM Tripura Mission Director Saju Vaheed, and Director of Health Services Dr Debasree Debbarma as distinguished guests.

A keynote address on hepatitis and its prevention will be delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Pradip Bhowmik, Director of the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura. The programme will be chaired by the Foundation’s President and senior pediatrician, Dr N L Bhowmik.

During the event, certificates and gifts will be presented to the winners and all participants of the essay-writing competition organized to commemorate World Hepatitis Day. A total of 147 participants took part in the state-level competition on the theme “Hepatitis-Free World,” with nearly 90 percent of the participants being students from schools, colleges, and universities.

Following the discussion session, a cultural programme will be held. An open quiz on hepatitis awareness will also be conducted for members of the audience.

The Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura has invited the public to attend the programme and participate in the awareness initiative.
